The Memphis Southmen thirty year reunion was held August 6-8, 2004 at the Memphis Marriott Downtown. The reunion was centered around a reception that was held Saturday evening. A hospitality suite was open throughout the weekend in "Room 1803." The reunion was covered by Memphis TV stations WREG-3 and WMC-5, but was not covered by Memphis newspapers.
Twenty-seven players, coaches, and staff attended the reunion as well as several friends of the Southmen. Highlights included a players reception held Friday evening, stadium tour on Saturday afternoon, and the thirty year reunion was held Saturday evening in the Nashville Room. After the reception the team viewed the 1974 Memphis Southmen Highlight Film, and was entertained by blues singer and former Southmen running back Paul Miles.
We would like to thank the Marriott Downtown for hosting the reunion. A very special "thank you" goes to the Southmen friend Mr. Pat Patterson who paid for dinner, and former Southmen QB John Huarte who picked up the bar tab.
There were preliminary talks of a thirty-five year reunion for 2009. For more information contact:
